Who is Doc Daye?

When Tempus Daye wakes up every morning, he is the ultimate man, the peak of human perfection. Muscular, intelligent, handsome, and even though he stands out because his skin as a silvery metallic hint to it, he is still the consummate example of all that is good with humanity. But as the day passes, many things wear on Doc Daye...

Tempus's parents, geniuses in their own rights, determined that their child should be the bastion of human ingenuity, perfection, and justice. To this end, he was fully given over at a young age to a group of scientists to raise him and train him without the emotional influence parents might impart. These scientists did just that, teaching him all the known languages in the world and rearing him in all the known sciences, as well as exposing him to experts in multiple other fields. But they also took it upon themselves to do more. This group of scientists performed various experiments and procedures on the young boy through his life, attempting to give him extrahuman skills to wage his war on injustice with. What they did instead was give the World's ultimate hero his greatest weakness.

Each day when Doc Day awakes, he is, as stated above, very nearly perfection personified. And he remains that way as long as he has no contact with people or even creatures of lesser stock. If he comes into contact with the angry, the lazy, the greedy, the evil, those with common human imperfections, Doc Daye takes on that imperfection almost immediately and, even though he struggles and attempts to hold it off, he eventually begins to personify the imperfections he encounters. This means that by the end of any given day, Tempus Daye may be lazy, angry, psychopathic, evil, whatever he has encountered. When his body shuts down...and this is a when, not an if, his body has to have and will have 8 hours of sleep each 24 hour period, then a transformation takes place and he is once again Doc Daye, the 24 Hour Hero!!!

Doc has tried to fight this, he has put together teams in the past and has even tried to solve the world's issues in two or three horus a day, but finally he settled on a solution. He sequesters himself away in various solitary places with a single assistant.... and hires Tom Pariah, erstwhile soldier of fortune, etc. to be his legs...and provides him with inventions, help, etc. Of course, Doc will get into the mix more than once so I could play with that wonderful weakness...but he would work through Pariah and whoever Pariah recruited for the most part. And Doc's not a secret entity really, but he's been seen so little that he's sort of urban legend..plus he tries to keep his location secret so baddies wont try to capture him and use him for their own evil ways.

Border Town - By Stephen Briner

ENJOY AN EXCERPT FROM STEPHEN BRINER'S 'BORDER TOWN'

Braden Coll wiped the blood off of his saber, touched the gash on his forehead, and called to the man at the end of the tunnel. “Now Remus, we can keep it up all day if you want.”
“Like hell you can!” Remus stood, holding a stolen pickaxe. Part of the haft had been chopped away and blood welled from the miner’s fingers. But he stood firm and glared down the tunnel at Braden. “We both know how it’s gonna end. Now we’re just settling who gets to walk away.”
Braden stepped forward, his saber lowered but ready. He studied the fugitive’s reaction. He’d seen Remus around before. Must have come through The Gate about six months ago, sentenced to the Sterling Company’s mines. Remus had kept his head down until last week, when he and a few others had made off with a load Sterling’s picks, helmets, and carts. Braden had tracked them to Mount Feste, where the thieves had holed up in the mountain’s web like network of tunnels.
He’d caught Remus and two others at the entrance. They’d resisted. Braden had killed the other two, but Remus had fled deeper into the tunnels. Now they stared each other down, and Braden struggled for a less bloody solution.

Excerpt from "THE CERBERUS CLAN-CHANGING OF THE GUARD" By Ken Janssens

“Fire!”
Joe let loose with a round. He connected with some part of the other Citreon, causing a ricochet. The driver slumped over in his seat without a sound. Kate began firing measured shots at the two remaining men. She knew that with her bad hand inside a bouncing vehicle she would never hit them. Kate merely hoped to send them scurrying back to their truck for cover, which is exactly what happened. They discharged a few rounds in the Harrises’ direction.
“Pick another and fire!” Kate yelled as she unloaded another three rounds. She didn’t hear a rifle shot.
“Joe?” Kate questioned. She heard nothing. “Joe! Gus, what’s going on with your brother?”
Keeping his hands on the wheel, Little Gus craned his neck to spy his brother’s face. “Joe… Mom, he’s just staring forward.”
“Has he been shot?!”
“I don’t think so.”
“Joe!” Kate screamed as she blasted one more time. “Talk to me now.”
“I can’t…” Kate knew that if Joe could talk, he was probably just in shock. The driver looked dead. Kate pulled the trigger again, nothing came out. She was empty. And they were getting close to the truck. Kate needed the rifle, but if she could barely get Joe to talk, there was no way he would be able to pass it to her. A bullet bounced off the truck’s grill near Gus. They were way too close. Twenty feet. All that was left was to ram one Citroën into another.
“Hold tight!”
